LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (9-16, 7-14 PSAC) closed out the 2011-12 season today by downing Mercyhurst University (12-14, 10-12 PSAC) 69-68 at home in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
The Lady Eagles celebrated senior night before the game, honoring their five senior players.
Senior
Sharay Hall (Philadelphia/Carver) tied her career-high with 23 points. Hall hit a career-high five three-pointers and pulled down six rebounds.
Senior
Peaches Nesmith (Philadelphia/Northeast) scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Freshman
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) netted 13 points and also grabbed seven rebounds.
Senior
Mahogany Spence (Scranton, Pa./G.A.R.) scored eight points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to go along with her game-high five assists.
With LHU clinging on to a 64-63 lead with just under a minute to play, Senior
Heather McHugh (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) put the game away for the Lady Eagles.
McHugh drilled a three-pointer to put The Haven up by four. She would later seal the win by making two clutch free throws with under 10 seconds to play.
Five of McHugh's seven points came in the final minute of action.
Mercyhurst was led by Nikki Frederickson, who scored 20 points.
