SALISBURY, N.C. – The Lock Haven University softball team wrapped up play at the Catawba Invitational today with an 8-4 win over Davis & Elkins.
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) led the way today. She was the winning pitcher and hit a pair of solo home runs.
Chelsea Edwards (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) also hit two home runs and
Alicia Cacciotti (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) drilled a three-run shot.
The Lady Eagles opened the season on Friday with a 9-1 win over Tiffin and The Haven went 1-2 yesterday. LHU opened yesterday with an early morning loss to Wayne State (L, 8-3). In a pair of games that ended late last night (Saturday), Lock Haven split.
LHU beat Fairmont State 11-4 before falling to Wingate 8-3 late last night.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) picked up the win over Fairmont State and
Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) was 1-for-1 with a RBI.
In the loss to Wingate, LHU scored all three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally came up short.
Lock Haven returns to action Friday, March 9 as the Lady Eagles kick off their Spring Break play in Florida.
