CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lock Haven University softball team (5-6) picked up a pair of wins today at the NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
The Lady Eagles beat Minot State 5-2 before cruising past Philadelphia 10-0 in five innings.
LHU scored five runs on seven hits against Minot. Leading the way was
Kelsey Mullins (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley), who went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) picked up the win and struck out three.
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) struck out two on the way to the save.
Lock Haven scored its 10 runs on 11 hits in the win over Philadelphia.
The Lady Eagles jumped all over Philadelphia early, scoring eight runs in the top the second.
Chelsea Edwards (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led the way at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort. She hit a home run and drove in three runs.
Brittany Favazza (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and
Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Smith was sensational in the pitcher's circle. He struck out eight on the way to a two-hitter.
Lock Haven is right back at it tomorrow (Wednesday, March 14) in Florida. LHU will get an early start at its doubleheader with Saint Thomas Aquinas starts at 9 a.m.
