CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lock Haven University softball team (9-8) split a pair of games on its final day of play at the 2012 NTC Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
LHU fell to Hillsdale 3-2 before cruising past Merrimack 5-0.
Lock Haven scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning against Hillsdale to tie the game, but the Chargers scored the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth.
The Haven's two runs came off five hits. Lock Haven's five hits came from five different players including
Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), who drove in one run.
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) struck out seven on the way to the 5-0 win over Merrimack. She helped her own cause going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs.
Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) was also 2-for-3 with two RBIs and
Brittany Favazza (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) was 2-for-4.
Lock Haven heads to IUP on Friday, March 23 at 2:30 (DH). The Lady Eagles will also take on California (Pa.) on Saturday, March 24 (1 p.m. DH).
