LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (6-14-1, 2-4 PSAC) swept a doubleheader with Slippery Rock University (9-15-1, 2-4 PSAC) today in its 2012 home opener at Foundation Field.

LHU erased big deficits in both games, including a 4-0 deficit in game one and a 5-0 deficit in game two.

LHU won game one 5-4.

The Bald Eagles trailed 4-0 through five innings of play, but rallied to score three runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to take the game 5-4.

Robert Guild (Ogdensburg, N.J./Sussex County Community College) sparked The Haven's comeback with a pinch-hit leadoff double to open up the seventh inning.  After a sacrifice bunt by Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) moved the tying run to third base, Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) singled to put runners on first and third with one out.  Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) tied the game with a sacrifice fly that would also move Henritzy to second base.  Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University) ended the game with a walk-off single to give the Bald Eagles the 5-4 win.

Henritzy was the only Bald Eagle to record multiple hits in game one, as he went 2-for-4.

Matt Hendrixson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) started on the mound and gave up just one hit while walking seven in 3.1 innings of work.  He recorded three strikeouts.

Corey Hepfer (Springfield, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) threw 3.2 innings of relief on his way to picking up the win.

In game two, the Bald Eagles once again rallied from behind, this time they erased a 5-0 deficit to take the game 9-5.

LHU trailed 5-0 through three full innings, but were able to cut the lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning off of a solo homerun by Zuback.

The Bald Eagles offense then erupted in the fifth inning, as they batted through the order, scoring eight runs in the inning from five hits.

Seven different Bald Eagles recorded hits in the game, including Henritzy, who once again led the team offensively.

Henritzy went 2-for-3 with two RBI's and a run scored.

Collin Mills (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) started on the mound for The Haven and put forth a gutsy effort.  After giving up five earned runs early, Mills gutted it out to pick up the complete game win.  He recorded three strikeouts.

Lock Haven put together a sound defensive effort in both games today, as they turned five double plays combined in the two games.

The Bald Eagles are right back at it with The Rock tomorrow (Saturday, March 24) as they travel to Slippery Rock for a doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
