INDIANA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (10-9, 1-1 PSAC Central) opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central play by splitting a doubleheader at division rival IUP (11-7-1, 1-1 PSAC Central).
Lock Haven won game one 2-1, but IUP edged the Lady Eagles 1-0 in game two.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) went the distance in game one on the way to the win. She threw all seven innings, allowing just five hits. She walked just one IUP batter.
The Haven's two runs came off seven hits.
Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin) led LHU at the plate. She was 2-for-3 with a RBI.
Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Game two proved to be another pitcher's duel.
IUP scored the game's only run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Chelsea Edwards (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) led Lock Haven at the plate as she went 2-for-3.
The Lady Eagles return to action tomorrow (Saturday, March 24) at 1 p.m. on the road when they take on No. 25 California (Pa.).
