LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Freshman
Collin Mills (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) threw a complete game shutout in game two as the Lock Haven University baseball team (9-16-1, 4-6 PSAC) split a doubleheader with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West leader Gannon University (17-11, 7-3 PSAC) today at Foundation Field.
LHU fell in game one 6-0.
Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) had the lone hits for the Bald Eagles as they both went 1-for-3.
Matt Hendrixson (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) started game one for The Haven. Hendrixson gave up two runs in four innings of work while striking out two hitters.
Corey Hepfer (Springfield, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) struck out six hitters in three innings of relief.
Paul McKenna pitched a great game for Gannon. McKenna threw a complete game shutout and only allowed two hits.
LHU won game two 4-0.
The Bald Eagles received a great pitching performance from
Collin Mills. Mills threw a complete game, three-hit shutout. Mills struck out eight hitters on his way to the win.
LHU led 1-0 through five innings of play and was able to add three more runs in the sixth inning off the bat of
Cory Dorman (Mifflinburg, Pa./Alleghany College of Maryland). Dorman came up with the bases loaded and two outs and hit a bases clearing double over the right fielder.
Dorman finished 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University) had the other RBI for The Haven. Cressman went 1-for-2.
The Bald Eagles are right back at it with Golden Knights tomorrow (Saturday, March 31) as they travel to Gannon for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
