LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University softball team (13-10, 2-1 PSAC Central) swept Clarion University (7-11, 0-2 PSAC Central) today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division action as the Lady Eagles took to Lawrence Field for the first time in 2012.

LHU won 6-0 and 11-3 (6 innings) on the way to the sweep, which helped LHU improve to 3-1 in Central Play.

Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) pitched a two-hit gem in game one on the way to the complete-game shutout. She struck out three and allowed no free passes.

The Haven's six runs came off seven hits including a pair from both Brittany Favazza (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia).

Favazza was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Clarke was 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) was the story in game two as she picked up the win and homered twice to pace the Lady Eagles to the 11-3 win.

Smith struck out seven over six innings of work. She helped her own cause by going 2-for-3 at the plate. She hit a pair of two-run home runs.

Favazza was 2-for-4 as her strong hitting in the leadoff spot was again a key for Lock Haven.

Clarke was also another strong part of lineup as she went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Lock Haven's 11 runs came off 11 hits.

Lock Haven is right back at it tomorrow (Saturday, March 31) at 1 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host Millersville University.
