Lady Eagles split with Millersville

Haven drops game one, 5-1 & wins game two, 6-4

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University softball team (14-11) spilt today's doubleheader with Millersville University (10-18).

LHU dropped game one, 5-1, but bounced back with a solid 6-4 win in game two.

Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) was 2-for-2 and Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) was 2-for-4 at the plate in game one.

Millersville led 3-1 after 4.5 innings in game two, but Lock Haven responded in a big way.

The Lady Eagles scored four innings the bottom of the fifth, taking the lead for good.

Highlighting the four-run bottom half of the fifth was Smith's three-run home run. It was her third home run in three games and eighth on the year.

Sarah Schwalm (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) was 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored in game two.

Lock Haven's six runs came off seven hits.

Smith picked up the win in the pitcher's circle and Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) recorded the save.

Lock Haven returns to action on Friday, April 6 at 2:30 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host No. 24 Bloomsburg University in PSAC Central action.
