LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (15-22-1, 9-11 PSAC) celebrated senior day today by sweeping both games of a doubleheader against California (Pa.) University (22-16, 10-6 PSAC) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
The Bald Eagles took game one 5-1 behind a great pitching performance from
Brandon Renoll (Hanover, Pa./Hanover).
Renoll allowed just one run while scattering six hits in the complete game effort. He struck out two hitters and didn't allow a walk on the day.
The LHU offense was also clicking today, as they tallied 11 hits in game one.
Senior
Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University) led the way at the plate going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) went 1-for-3 for the game with a game-high two RBIs.
Dakota Roof (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) went 2-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base and two runs scored.
The Bald Eagles carried the momentum from game one straight into game two, taking the second game of the twinbill 5-0.
Collin Mills (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) threw another incredible game for The Haven.
Mills allowed just five hits and struck out six batters on his way to the complete game shutout.
The shutout was Mills' second of the season and he has now recorded four straight complete game wins.
Cressman again led LHU at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. The senior celebrated senior day by going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate.
Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) each had two hits for The Haven.
Hartman went 2-for-3 and Zuback went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base.
With today's wins, LHU took three of four games during the weekend series with Cal, who led the PSAC West entering the series.
The Bald Eagles return to action Tuesday, April 17 when they travel to Mansfield University for a PSAC crossover matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
