Game 1 winning pitcher Sarah Morse in her special edition orange LHU uniform. MS has a special significance to LHU softball. Former LHU Head Coach and Alumna, Kim Lindsey (formerly Hasson) was diagnosed with MS in 1993. Kim was a member of the 1988 NCAA DII National Championship Runner-up squad. She then coached the Lady Eagles from 1990-1999. Many of you may know Kim as she has been on campus since 1985 and remains here as our Equipment Coordinator in the Department of Athletics.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University softball team (21-16) split a Sunday non-divisional doubleheader with visiting Shippensburg University (16-22).

LHU won game one 5-0, but Shippensburg battled back to edge The Haven 2-1.

It was an “Orange Out” yesterday at Lawrence Field as the Lady Eagles hosted their annual Knock MS out of the Park day. Over the last four years the team has raised approximately $18,000. Last year's team was able to raise just over $3,000 for this worthy cause. This year's team hopes to equal last year's fundraising efforts.

Lock Haven's five game-one runs came off nine hits as LHU jumped all over Ship early, scoring four runs over the first two innings.

Brittany Favazza (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) had the hot bat in game one, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored.

Erin Clary (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehanna) drove in a pair of runs for Lock Haven.

Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) was masterful in the pitcher's circle. She threw a complete game, one-hit shutout. Morse struck out three and walked only one batter.

Ship led 1-0 after five and the two teams exchanged runs in the sixth, but LHU couldn't rally up another run at home in game two.

Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) scattered five hits over seven innings of work in the loss. She struck out five and walked just one.

Chelsea Edwards (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) went 2-for-3 with the lone Haven RBI.

Lock Haven returns to action next Friday, April 20 at 2:30 when the Lady Eagles take on rival and nationally ranked Bloomsburg University in a huge PSAC Central doubleheader.
