Baseball honors vets with Wounded Warrior celebration; Splits doubleheader with Bloom

LHU takes game one 5-4 in extra innings; Falls 11-1 in game two

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (16-25-1 split a doubleheader with Bloomsburg University (24-17) today in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover matchup at Foundation Field.

Before the games, LHU honored the veterans of our military with the celebration of the second annual Wounded Warrior game.  Families and friends had the opportunity to sponsor a veteran for the day.  Each of the LHU players wore a veteran's name across his jersey.  Sponsored vets were a part of the opening ceremony with the players on the field.  The jerseys worn by each player were camouflage in color.  The players also wore camo hats during the games.

After the tremendous pregame ceremony, LHU was able to take game one 5-4 in eight innings.

Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) led LHU at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double.

Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) continued his hot streak, as he went 2-for -3 with a homerun and two RBIs.

Kevin Cressman (Huntingdon, Pa./Mansfield University) went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.

Sophomore Dakota Roof (Towanda,Pa./Towanda) had the game-winning hit for LHU.  Roof hit a walk-off double into the right-centerfield gap in the eighth inning to give LHU the 5-4 victory.

Collin Mills (Union Bridge, Md./Francis Scott Key) started on the mound for The Haven and allowed just four runs through seven innings of work.  He struck out seven huskie hitters on his way to the no-decision.

LHU fell in game two, 11-1.

The Bald Eagles had five hits in the game, all singles.
Hartman, Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Brian Zysset (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) all went 1-for-2 for the game.

Eric Regel (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) and Ryan Watkins (Beech Creek, Pa./Central Mountain) were each 1-for-3.

The Bald Eagles return to action Tuesday, April 24 when they host East Stroudsburg for a PSAC crossover doubleheader at Foundation Field.  First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
