LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (16-27-1, 9-13 PSAC) dropped both games of a doubleheader to Indiana (Pa.) University (23-22-1, 9-13 PSAC) today in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West matchup at Foundation Field.
LHU led 2-0 through four innings in game one, but were unable to hold the lead and fell 5-2.
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain), last week's National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association hitter of the week went 1-for-3 at the plate. Zuback drove in one run and added a stolen base.
Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate University) went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk.
Cory Dorman (Mifflinburg, Pa./Alleghany College of Maryland) and
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) each had one hit for The Haven
Josh Jones (Neelyton, Pa./Southern-Huntingdon) drove in one RBI.
David Masteller (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) started on the mound for LHU. Masteller struck out four batters in 6.1 innings of work.
The Bald Eagles dropped game two 7-1.
Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) led the Bald Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Dorman went 1-for-3 with a double in the game.
Zuback and
Jose Diaz (Oak Ridge, N.J./Gloucester County College) each added a hit for The Haven.
Nick Cummings (Akron, N.Y./Akron), LHU's game two starting pitcher, threw all seven innings and struck out four hitters.
Tomorrow's scheduled doubleheader at Indiana (Pa.) has been moved to Sunday (April 29) due to weather. The two games will wrap-up Lock Haven's 2012 regular season. LHU still has a shot to qualify for the PSAC playoffs. The Bald Eagles need to win both games against IUP Sunday and have Slippery Rock lose both of its remaining games against California to earn the No. 4 seed in the PSAC West. First pitch for Sunday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
