MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team (15-14, 4-4 PSAC Central) dropped both games of a PSAC Central doubleheader today at Mansfield University (17-6, 5-1 PSAC Central).
Lock Haven fell 3-2 in game one before being beat 8-7 (8 innings) in extra innings in game two.
Lock Haven had a total of four home runs on the day including one from
Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton), who hit her 10th homer of the season in game one.
Nikki Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) hit a pair of home runs in game two including a grand slam.
Smith was 2-for-3 with the home run in game one and Weaknecht went 3-for-3 with a run scored.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) struck out four and walked just one in six innings of work on the way to the loss.
In game two, Weaknecht continued her hot hitting. She was 2-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored and six RBIs. She hit a two-run homer in the third and drilled her grand slam in the fourth.
Erin Clary (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) was 2-for-3 with a home run in game two.
Morse had five K's in the game-two loss.
Along with Clary and Weaknecht, three other Lady Eagles recorded two-hit games in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Monday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. when they travel to Shepherd University.
