Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (6-7, 1-1 PSAC) opened 2012 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play by splitting two matches in today's crossover action at Thomas Fieldhouse.
Today's matches marked the opening of PSAC conference play.
The Lady Eagles swept Edinboro University 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-22) in straight sets to open the day.
Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) led the way for The Haven offensively with 10 kills and posted an outstanding .529 hitting percentage for the match.
Grace Novacek (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) and
Bailey Farthing (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) also had strong matches offensively, recording eight and seven kills, respectively.
Farthing added a match-high seven blocks for LHU.
Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn, Pa/Cardinal O'Hara) had a strong all-around performance. The LHU setter filled the stat sheet with 29 assists, four kills, four digs, three blocks and two aces.
LHU capped off the night with a 3-1 (21-25, 21-25, 25-22, 18-25) loss to Gannon.
Farthing led LHU in the match with 12 kills.
Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) added 10 kills for The Haven.
Garrity set up the Lady Eagle attack all match and recorded 40 assists.
Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) and
Monica Brown (Omaha, Neb./Iowa Western C.C.) were strong defensively, tallying 21 and 17 digs, respectively.
The Lady Eagles are right back in action tomorrow when they host Mercyhurst in a PSAC crossover matchup at 3 p.m.
