Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (5-6, 3-5 PSAC) fell 106-98 tonight in a double-overtime thriller at local rival Bloomsburg (3-9, 1-7 PSAC).
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti),
Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) and
Terrell Johnson (Philadelphia/Imhotep Charter) all scored 20+ points for LHU, marking the first time since 2009 that The Haven has had multiple players score more than 20 points in the same game.
Festus and Hepburn paced Lock Haven in the opening period. Festus netted 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field in the first half, while Hepburn scored 10 points and grabbed nine boards.
The Bald Eagles shot 50% (13-for-26) from the field in the first half and out-rebounded Bloomsburg 24-12 in the period, but trailed the Huskies 39-38 at the break.
The Bald Eagles trailed for almost the entire second half and LHU was down 77-69 with 2:57 to play. The Haven would rattle off seven points in the next 54 seconds however, and with 2:03 remaining, LHU trailed by just one, 77-76.
Down by two, 80-78, with 8.2 seconds remaining, Hepburn worked his way into the lane and hit a layup that tied the game at 80-80 and would force overtime.
Hepburn scored 10 of LHU's final 14 points in regulation, including the final six.
The two teams remained even after one overtime, but Bloom claimed the game by outscoring LHU 14-6 in the second overtime.
Hepburn finished the night with a game-high 34 points and 10 rebounds.
Hepburn became the first Bald Eagle to score 20+ points in three straight games since Billy Arre did so in 2009. Hepburn also is the first Bald Eagle since Warren Christian in 2009 to record back-to-back double-doubles.
Johnson netted a career-high 25 points on the night. He shot 9-of-16 from the field.
Festus finished the night with 24 points and seven rebounds.
Bloom was led by Lorenzo Christmas' 29 points.
The Bald are right back in action tomorrow night (January 12) when they travel to Mansfield University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
