LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team is heading to No. 12 Pittsburgh for a pair of Sunday dual matches.
Lock Haven will take on Eastern Michigan and Davidson on Sunday at Pitt's Fitzgerald Field House.
Setting the stage:
The Bald Eagles (2-2, 0-0 EWL) are coming off a thrilling win last Sunday vs. West Virginia and head into Pittsburgh looking to keep the good times rolling.
Lock Haven will take on both Eastern Michigan and Davidson on Sunday at Pitt. Lock Haven and Eastern Michigan square off at 10 a.m.
The Davidson match will start approximately five minutes after the conclusion of the 10 a.m. matches.

Lock Haven is 2-2 with wins over Shippensburg and West Virginia. LHU fell in dual action to Rider and No. 1 Penn State.
The WVU-dual marked the first action of 2013 for The Haven and the Bald Eagles didn't disappoint, winning six-of-10 bouts on the way to the thrilling, 19-15 win.
Eastern Michigan (4-6, 0-1 MAC) features three nationally-ranked athletes. EMU is coming off a 30th place finish at the Midlands Championships and takes on Seton Hill tomorrow (Sat., Jan. 12) prior to Sunday's competition. Lock Haven and Eastern Michigan are 1-1 all-time. In 2011, LHU won just two bouts as the Bald Eagles fell, 34-6.
Davidson (5-2, 0-1 SoCon) is coming off a 32-12 loss to The Citadel and is in action tonight at Franklin & Marshall as the Wildcats make the trip north. Lock Haven and Davidson have met just one time and LHU lost, 21-15 in 2009.

LHU storylines, streaks & sidebars:
- Lock Haven is coming off a thrilling, 19-15 win over rival West Virginia. LHU is now 15-20 all-time vs. West Virginia. The win was the first for Lock Haven over WVU since 2005 and snapped a seven-match losing streak.
- 149-pounder
Mac Maldarelli is the reigning PSAC Wrestler of the Week. His win at 149 (match started at 157) sealed the victory for Lock Haven over WVU.
- The Bald Eagles won six of 10 bouts; West Virginia held a 13-8 advantage in takedowns.
- 2012-13 marks the first year where WVU is competing in the Big 12 Conference. Prior to that LHU and WVU were EWL rivals.

- Prior to the WVU deal, Lock Haven finished third-place at the Brute Invitational (12/29/12). A trio of wrestlers took second for Lock Haven (Rehm, Neff & Maldarelli).
- Lock Haven finished 4th at the 2012 PSAC Championships. All 10 Bald Eagles placed and LHU crowned a pair of individual champs.
- Brute marked the fifth tournament of the year for the Bald Eagles.

Jake Kemerer was second at the PSAC Championships and third at the Nittany Lion Open.

Harry Turner took second at a tournament. Turner, a redshirt-senior was also second at the Binghamton Open. Turner was fifth at Brute.
Maldrelli, the PSAC Athlete of the Week:
Earlier this week, junior
Mac Maldarelli was named the PSAC Wrestler of the Week.
With the match on the line Sunday against rival West Virginia, Maldarelli came up huge. The match with the Mountaineers began at 157 pounds and things were tied 15-15 heading into the day's final bout at 149. Maldarelli shined under the spotlight and earned an 8-0 major decision over WVU's Timothy Wheeling at 149-pounds, which sealed the team-victory for The Haven.
Maldarelli was nothing short of spectacular, as he dominated Wheeling for the entire match on the way to the 8-0 shutout. Maldarelli scored a late, first-period takedown to lead 2-0 after one. Starting the second period down, Maldarelli scored on a quick escape and a takedown as he jumped out to a commanding 5-0 lead after just two periods. In the third period, Maldarelli tilted Timothy Wheeling for a pair of points and collected a 2:52 riding time advantage on the way to the major that sealed the huge victory for The Haven.
With the win, Maldarelli improved to 13-7 on the year. He is the first Bald Eagle this season to receive PSAC Wrestler of the Week honors.

Matt Bonson was one of two Bald Eagles to pick up an individual win in the 34-6 loss.
