PITTSBURGH – The Lock Haven University wrestling team went 2-0 today (Sunday, Jan. 13) at the Pitt Duals, downing both Eastern Michigan and Davidson.
Lock Haven (4-2) opened the day with a 21-14 win over Eastern Michigan (5-9) and the Bald Eagles followed it up with a dominating, 31-6 win over Davidson (5-5).
With the two wins, Lock Haven improves to 4-2 on the year and has won three straight dual matches.
Bobby Rehm (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor),
Dan Neff (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco),
Billy Randt (York, Pa./West York),
Aaron McKinney (Imperial, Pa./West Allegheny),
Fred Garcia (Donora, Pa./Ringgold) and
Harry Turner (Howell, N.J./Howell) all went 2-0 today for The Haven.
In the 21-14 win over Eastern Michigan, Lock Haven won six-of-10 bouts. Two of those six wins came with bonus points as Rehm recorded a 19-4 (7:00) tech fall at 125 and Neff picked up a major decision at 141.
Lock Haven won all, but two bouts in the lopsided win over Davidson. The Haven collected bonus points at 125, 141, 157 and 285.
Rehm followed up his tech fall in the win over EMU with a 16-4 major decision, while Neff followed up his major with a tech fall.
Aaron Fry (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) avenged a loss in the EMU dual with a 13-2 major decision over Davidson's Nathaniel Powers at 157, giving Lock Haven valuable bonus points.
Turner beat Eastern Michigan's Khodor Hoballah, 2-1 and he capped off the day by pinning (2:29) Davidson's Jordan Ownbey.
Garcia, who was one of six Bald Eagles that went a perfect 2-0 on the day beat Eastern Michigan's Phillip Joseph, 3-1 to open the day. Joseph was ranked No. 33 and it marked Garcia's second straight dual-win over a ranked opponent.
Last Sunday, Garcia knocked off West Virginia's Lance Bryson (#23).
Lock Haven opens Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) action next weekend with a pair of road matches. LHU travels to Cleveland State on Friday, January 18 for a 6 p.m. match before taking on Edinboro on Saturday, January 19 at 1 p.m.

- Lock Haven is coming off a thrilling, 19-15 win over rival West Virginia. LHU is now 15-20 all-time vs. West Virginia. The win was the first for Lock Haven over WVU since 2005 and snapped a seven-match losing streak. The Bald Eagles won six of 10 bouts; West Virginia held a 13-8 advantage in takedowns. 2012-13 marks the first year where WVU is competing in the Big 12 Conference. Prior to that LHU and WVU were EWL rivals.
