Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (5-8, 3-7 PSAC) fell at home tonight to Slippery Rock (11-3, 8-2 PSAC), 73-60 in a PSAC West matchup at Thomas Fieldhouse.
Slippery Rock, who sits atop the PSAC West standings, led 31-18 with 5:07 to play in the first half, but the Bald Eagles battled back and went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 31-25 with 3:12 remaining in the period. The Bald Eagles trailed 33-26 at the halftime break.
LHU opened the second half on a 7-2 run in the first 1:30 of the period to cut the SRU lead to just 35-33.
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti), who leads the PSAC in scoring, scored all seven points for LHU during the run.
Slippery Rock would open its advantage back up however, and LHU was unable to creep back within striking distance.
Hepburn scored a team-high 20 points for The Haven. He shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line and tallied four rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol) scored 14 points in the game. He grabbed five rebounds, dished out three assists and blocked two shots.
Nate Walters (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) scored eight points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in his first start of the season.
Andre Rivers (Philadelphia/Girard College) chipped in with eight points and four rebounds off the bench.
Gerald Brooks paced The Rock with a game-high 24 points.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Saturday (January 19) when they host Edinboro in a PSAC West matchup. Tipoff at Thomas Fieldhouse is scheduled for 3 p.m.
