LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University wrestling team is set to open Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) action this weekend with a pair of road duals.
Lock Haven is set to travel to Cleveland State tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 18) for a 6 p.m. match, before taking on No. 16 Edinboro on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Several Bald Eagles will also be traveling to Millersville's Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Classic on Sunday.
Setting the stage:
Lock Haven heads into its EWL-opening weekend riding a three-match win streak and the Bald Eagles are 4-2 overall.
Last weekend, LHU picked up a pair of wins at the Pitt Duals. The Haven knocked off Eastern Michigan and Davidson in non-conference action.
LHU travels to Cleveland State's Woodling Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. match Friday night. Cleveland State is 2-3 overall and 0-1 in EWL action. Last Friday, CSU split a pair of dual matches, losing to Brown, before edging George Mason.
Lock Haven has won five straight over the Vikings, including last year's match, 28-9.
On Saturday, LHU travels to McComb Fieldhouse to take on No. 16 Edinboro (6-3, 1-0 EWL). The Fighting Scots lineup features five nationally-ranked starters including No. 4 A.J. Schopp (133) and No. 5 Mitchell Port (141).
Edinboro has won 10 straight against Lock Haven, with The Haven's last win coming in 2002. Last weekend, Edinboro went 2-2 and took fourth at the Virginia Duals.

Dan Neff , who is 19-6 on the year is ranked No. 25 at 141 pounds. He was ranked No. 23 last week and went 2-0 on Sunday at the Pitt Duals.
Redshirt-junior
Jake Kemerer is ranked No. 32 at 157 and remains at 17-10 on the year. Kemerer last wrestled at the Brute Invitational, where he took sixth overall in the talented 157-pound weight class.
Junior
Fred Garcia made his way into the rankings after going 2-0 at the Pitt Duals. He's ranked No. 29 at 184. Garcia is 18-8 on the season and riding a seven-match win streak. He's upset nationally-ranked opponents in two of his last three bouts.
