EDINBORO – The Lock Haven University wrestling team (5-3, 1-1 EWL) fell to No. 16 Edinboro (7-3, 2-0 EWL) 35-6 this afternoon in Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) action.
The loss snapped the Bald Eagles four-match win streak.
Lock Haven opened EWL action last night at Cleveland State with a come-from-behind, 19-17 win over the Vikings.
Bobby Rehm (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) and
Fred Garcia (Donora, Pa./Ringgold) posted wins for the Bald Eagles, but it wasn't enough to push LHU past a tough Edinboro squad.
Today's match started at 157 pounds and LHU trailed, 10-0 after the first three bouts.
Garcia put Lock Haven on the board with his ninth straight win. He took down Edinboro's Vince Pickett, 3-2.
Rehm beat Kory Mines, 9-2 to make it 22-6 Edinboro with four bouts remaining.
That would be Lock Haven's last win as the Fighting Scots earned the home win.
Edinboro won eight-of-10 bouts on the day and got bonus points five matches.
Lock Haven returns home next Saturday (January 26) to host No. 17 Pittsburgh at 7 p.m. The Bald Eagles will host Groups & Organizations Night that evening and LHU will also host nearby Penn College at 5 p.m. in an exhibition match. Check www.GoLHU.com next week for more information on Groups & Organizations night.
