Lady Eagles fall to CAL, 71-60; Hershey records 1st double-double of season

Lady Eagles return home Wednesday (January 30) when they host IUP

Box Score CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Kacie Hershey (Cochranville, Pa./Octorora) recorded her first double-double of the season, but the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (6-11, 3-10 PSAC) fell on the road today to California (Pa.) (12-5, 8-5 PSAC), 71-60 in a PSAC West matchup.

The Lady Eagles trailed 23-18 with 6:50 remaining in the first period, but Lock Haven closed the half on a 14-4 run, giving The Haven a 32-27 lead at the break.

The Lady Vulcans answered however, and opened the second half on a 20-5 run, taking a 47-37 advantage with 13:12 remaining in the game.  Lock Haven battled tough with CAL for the rest of the game, but could not complete the comeback.

Hershey finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds and shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) led LHU with 14 points on the afternoon.

This week's PSAC Freshman of the Week, J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) netted nine points and dished out a game-high five assists for Lock Haven.

Adrianna Berry (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) scored a career-high 11 points off the bench for LHU.

Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) added six points and five rebounds.

Emma Mahady led CAL with 18 points in the game.

The Lady Eagles return home on Wednesday, January 30 when the LHU hosts IUP in a PSAC West matchup.  Tipoff at Thomas Fieldhouse is set for 6 p.m.
