Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (5-12, 3-11 PSAC) fell in a tight matchup with No. 8 Indiana (Pa.) (16-2, 12-2 PSAC), 71-53 in a PSAC West matchup at Thomas Fieldhouse.
The Bald Eagles hung right with the nationally ranked Crimson Hawks in the first half.
LHU trailed by as many as 15 with 4:41 to play in the half, but the Bald Eagles battled their way back into the game.
Trailing, 36-28 in the closing seconds,
Nate Walters (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) ignited The Haven crowd. Walters picked up a steal on LHU's defensive end and went coast-to-coast, hitting an elbow jumper as time expired.
The Bald Eagles shot 61.1% (11-of-18) in the half and trailed IUP, 36-30 at the break.
The Bald Eagles traded baskets with IUP to open the second half and after a
Terrell Johnson (Philadelphia/Imhotep Charter) jumper and two free throws by
Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carrol), LHU cut the lead to four, 48-44 with 11:07 to play.
IUP answered with an 8-0 run however, and never allowed the Bald Eagles to regain momentum.
Armandi Marshall (Philadelphia/Olney East) led LHU with 12 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the field.
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti) scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists for LHU.
Festus and Johnson both finished with eight points on the night.
Both teams shot over 50% for the majority of the game.
Mathis Keita led IUP with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
The Bald Eagles are back in action on Saturday (February 2) when LHU travels to Gannon to take on the Golden Knights. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
