Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (5-4, 3-3 PSAC) used a balance offensive attack to down Cheyney (4-6, 2-4 PSAC), 85-77 tonight at Thomas Fieldhouse in a PSAC matchup.
Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia/Neumann Goretti) led five Bald Eagles in double-figures with 23 points. Hepburn went 11-for-12 from the free throw line and added six rebounds and six assists.
With 7:16 left in the first half and the game tied at 22-22, freshman
Elijah Cooper (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) drilled a three-pointer that would spark a 7-0 LHU run.
The Haven led by 10, 36-26 in the closing seconds of the opening period when Hepburn hit a running 55-foot bank shot as time expired to give LHU a 13 point cushion.
Lock Haven held Cheyney to just 28% shooting in the first half.
The Haven held onto that 13 point lead for the entire second half, withstanding multiple Cheyney runs.
Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) netted 15 points on the night and added eight rebounds.
Senior
Armandi Marshall (Philadelphia/Olney East) had a big game down low for The Haven. Marshall scored 10 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds on the night. The double-double was Marshall's second of the season.
Sophomore point guard
Terrell Johnson (Philadelphia/Imhotep Charter) filled up the stat sheet tonight with 10 points, six rebounds and tied a career-high with seven assists.
Cooper finished with 12 points off the bench, tying his career-high.
It marked the second time this season that LHU had five players score in double-figures (Salem International).
Jason Sabb led Cheyney with 29 points on the night.
The LHU win snapped a three game losing streak to the Wolves.
The Bald Eagles are right back in action tomorrow night (January 5) when they host West Chester in PSAC action. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
