Four Lady Eagles net double figures to pace Haven past Cheyney, 74-53

Balanced attack, tough defense helps Haven pick up first conference win

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team put four players in double-figures scoring and a strong Haven defensive effort helped LHU soar past visiting Cheyney, 74-53 tonight in PSAC action.

Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) and Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) scored 12 points apiece to help Lock Haven (4-6, 1-5 PSAC) to its first conference win of the year.

Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa.Ligonier) and Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) both netted 10 points as Lock Haven's balanced attack was too much for Cheyney (0-9, 0-6 PSAC), who remained winless on the year.

Moyer and Ryan were tough on the glass as well and pulled down eight and seven rebounds, respectively.

Alex Brehony (Mertztown, Pa./Brandywine Heights) led Lock Haven with a game and career high nine rebounds. She also chipped in with seven points.

Daugherty added four assists, while Lane dished out three.

Lock Haven led by 10 at the break, 34-24 thanks to six points each from Kacie Hershey (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara) and Lane. Ryan dominated the boards in the opening 20 minutes and pulled down six rebounds, including four on the defensive end.

Hershey finished with eight points.

The Lady Eagles defense held Cheyney to 30 percent shooting for the field and forced 33 turnovers. Lock Haven had 13 steals in the game, including four from Lane.

Cheyney's Kyra Hines-Allen scored a game-high 21 points in the loss.
