Football falls to undefeated & #15 West Chester on Homecoming

Ten point third quarter not enough, as Bald Eagles fall, 34-13

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University football team fell at home today to national power West Chester, 34-13 on Homecoming at Hubert Jack Stadium.

The No. 15 Golden Rams (7-0, 4-0 PSAC East) led 14-0 after the first quarter and pushed their lead to 24-3 at the halftime break.

Lock Haven (2-5, 1-3 PSAC East) responded however, as the Bald Eagles opened the second half with an eight play, 54-yard drive that resulted in a two-yard touchdown run by Matthew Gibson (Newville, Pa./Big Spring).

The Haven added three points on a 25 yard field goal by Alex Boumerhi (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) on its next possession that cut the West Chester lead to 24-13.

Boumerhi was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goal attempts on the day.  He connected on a 24-yard field early in the second quarter.

The Golden Rams closed out the scoring with a 10-point fourth quarter to close out the 34-13 win.

Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) completed 14-of-23 passes for 186 yards in his first career start for LHU.

Senior wideout James Wilbern (Steelton, Pa./Steelton-Highspire) led all pass catchers with seven receptions for 118 yards on the day.

Brandon Brader (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) carried the ball 19 times for 77 yards.

Tashawn Bunch (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and George Christas (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) wled the Bald Eagles defensively.

Bunch led all players with 10 total tackles, including six solo.

Christas tallied eight tackles, seven solo and snagged one of LHU's two interceptions in the game.

West Chester running back Rondell White paced the Golden Rams offense all day on his way to surpassing the 1,000 yard mark for the season.  He carried the ball 33 times for 196 yards on the day.

Lock Haven returns to action next Saturday, October 26 at 1 p.m. at Millersville.
