Lady Eagles down local-rival Mansfield 4-2 on the road

Four lady eagles score goals to earn the victory over Mountaineers

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's soccer team (3-4-1, 3-4-1 PSAC) downed Mansfield (3-5-1, 3-5-1 PSAC) 4-2 on the road today in conference play.
 
Lock Haven gained the lead in the second minute when junior Jamie Hunter (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) scored a goal with the assist from Taylor Schutte (Newton, N.J./Kittantiny Regional) to lead Mansfield 1-0.  
 
Mansfield responded with a goal from Jessica Kerwin to tie the game 1-1 in the 13th minute of play.  Lock Haven answered back just three minutes later with an unassisted goal by senior Samantha Biondi (Hamilton, N.J./Mercer County Community College) to retrieve a 2-1 lead.  The goal marks the first of the season for Biondi. 
 
In the 73rd minute of action, freshman Erica Selheimer (Landsdale, Pa./North Penn) played a header five yards out from Danielle Mauro to give the lady eagles a 3-1 lead. Shortly after Mansfield's Danielle Lentz scored their second goal to make the score 3-2.
 
Lock Haven answered back with a late goal in the 87th minute when Madison Taylor headed a free kick from Danielle Mauro (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) to seal the win.
 
Lock Haven goalie Dana Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass./Mount St. Charles Academy) was solid in the net tallying ten saves in the win.
 
Lock Haven returns home to host Kutztown on Saturday, October 5 (4:30 p.m.).
