Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team was edged 2-1 today by visiting Richmond in a contest featuring two of the Atlantic 10 Conference's top teams.
Lock Haven (13-5, 3-2 A-10) got its lone goal from
Taylor Kennedy (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) in the 62
nd minute and threatened with a late penalty corner, but the Lady Eagles couldn't upend Richmond (11-6, 4-1 A-10) today on Charlotte Smith Field.
Despite being outshot 12-0 in the first half, the two teams went into the halftime break tied 0-0, thanks to the stellar play of Lock Haven goalie
Elaina White (Etters, Pa./Red Land), who made all seven of her saves in the first 35 minutes of play.
The Lady Eagles put the pressure on Richmond quick in the second half, but it was the Spiders who scored first. Chelsea Davies put the visitors up 1-0 in the 45
th minute when she converted on a penalty stroke.
Richmond made it 2-0 in the 61
st minute of play off a goal from Taylor Deitrick.
Less than a minute after Deitrick's goal, Kennedy put Lock Haven on the board and cut into the Richmond lead.
Defensively, the Lady Eagles got solid outings form
Jenna Felice (Endicott, N.Y./Maine Endwell) and
Steph Ebersole (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin).
Lock Haven hosts No. 12 Massachusetts on Friday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m.
