Football falls in PSAC East road game at ESU

Caleb Walton threw for four TDs & Brandon Brader rushed for 121 yards, but East Stroudsburg beat LHU 52-28

Box Score EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Despite four touchdown passes from Caleb Walton (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and 121 yards on the ground by Brandon Brader (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty), the Lock Haven University football team fell on the road at East Stroudsburg University, 52-28.
 
Lock Haven (3-6, 2-4 PSAC East) fell into an early hole and trailed ESU (6-3, 3-3 PSAC East) 38-14 at halftime and despite 14 fourth-quarter points, the deficient was too much to overcome for The Haven.
 
Walton became the first Bald Eagle quarterback to pass for four touchdowns in a game since 1995. Making just his third career start, Walton threw for 255 yards. He was 20-of-40 with one interception and four touchdowns.
 
Four different players caught TD passes, including David Cook (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs), Jesse Hoover (Curwensville, Pa./Curwensville), Beau Swales (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) and James Wilbern (Steelton, Pa./Seelton-Highspire).
 
Brader carried the ball 19 times for 121 yards, picking up his first 100-yard game since Week 2 at Clarion.
 
Defensively, Lock Haven got another solid effort from George Christas (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown), who led LHU with seven tackles. Tashawn Bunch (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) and Zsone Olds (Pittsburgh/Schenley) each added six stops.
 
ESU's high-flying attack put up 28 points in the second quarter and QB Matt Soltes finished with 462 yards and four TDs.
 
Lock Haven returns home next Saturday (Nov. 9) for the first of two home games to close out the 2013 season. Next Saturday, LHU hosts Kutztown at 1 p.m.

Lock Haven was coming off its first road win since the 2007 season finale … Jesse Hoover caught his 12th career TD pass today … Today marked Brandon Brader's first 100-yard (121) rushing game since Week 2 at Clarion when he rushed for 121 yards … It's Brader's seventh career 100-yard rushing game … Brader now has 2,494 career rushing yards (fourth all-time) … Caleb Walton's four passing TDs were the most in a game for a Bald Eagle since Bobby McLaughlin passed for four (494 yards)  in 1995 vs. Clarion … It's the second straight game both Jesse Hoover and David Cook caught TD passes.
