Women’s basketball falls in nail-biter at home against Chestnut Hill, 62-60

Moyer records fourth straight double-double

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (1-5) battled the entire game, but fell 62-60, to visiting Chestnut Hill College (1-4).
 
Tonight's game came down to the final seconds after a back-and-forth battle between Chestnut Hill and Lock Haven.
 
The Lady Eagles led Chestnut Hill 35-27 at the halftime break, but The Griffins fought back for the lead late in the second half. 
 
Down by two with 22 seconds remaining, J. J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) made a jumper to tie the game, 60-60. 
 
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) blocked a shot from the advancing Griffins, but it was not enough as Chestnut Hill made a layup as the buzzer sounded.
 
Moyer paced this Lady Eagle offense, recording her fourth straight double-double of the season to lead LHU.  She finished with 11 rebounds and tallied 23 points in 34 minutes of action.
 
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) tallied 14 total points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 26 minutes.
 
Hilliard had an all-around performance for the Haven with eight total points, seven assists, and three steals. 
 
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) snatched six and five rebounds, respectively.
 
LHU scored 22 points in the paint and tallied 17 points off forced turnovers. 
 
Shayla Felder led Chestnut Hill with 20 points in the game.
 
The Lady Eagles are back in action Wednesday (Dec. 4) at East Stroudsburg (6 p.m.).

Entering tonight's game, Marrysa Moyer led the PSAC in rebounds with 13.2 per game … Moyer's 13.2 rebounds are the fifth-most in Division II…Lock Haven is 1-3 in the all-time Series against Chestnut Hill.
