Four Bald Eagles in NCAA Rankings:
Four Bald Eagles were ranked in the first of three NCAA Division I Wrestling Coaches' Panel Rankings, which were released January 24.
The final rankings will be a major component in the criteria used in the selection process for the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
Bobby Rehm,
Dan Neff,
Fred Garcia and
Harry Turner are all ranked among the top-33 in the nation.
Neff is the Bald Eagles highest ranked athlete at No. 25. Garcia is ranked No. 29, while Rehm and Turner both sit at No. 32.
The four Bald Eagles ranked marks the most LHU has ever had since the NCAA started releasing the coaches' rankings.
Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots for the 2013 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The coaches' rankings are compiled by a vote of coaches representing each qualifying tournament. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. In order to be eligible for the rankings, wrestlers must have participated in at least five matches against Division I opponents and have wrestled within the last 30 days.
How Waller sees the match:
“Our final EWL match against a nationally-ranked Bloomsburg squad has all the makings of a great dual,” said LHU head coach Robbie Waller. “This rivalry means a lot to both schools and we know that we will need to be at our best in a hostile environment on Friday night.”
