Bald Eagles drop two on second day of Builder Invitational

Zuback tallies four hits and drives in four runs on the day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (0-3) dropped two games today on the second day of the Builder Invitational hosted by the Apprentice School.

The Bald Eagles dropped their first game of the day to Briarcliffe College (1-1), 19-9 and fell to Bloomsburg University (2-1) in the nightcap, 9-3.

The Haven scored nine runs on 12 hits in game one against Briarcliffe.

The game was tied at 7-7 heading into the eighth inning, but Briarcliffe tacked on five runs in the top of the inning.  After a 30 minute rain delay in the top of the ninth, BC added seven more runs to take a 19-7 lead.

LHU plated two in the bottom of the ninth, but could not overcome the deficit.

Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs in the game.

Jose Diaz (Oak Ridge, N.J./Gloucester County College) went 2-for-5 with two doubles and drove in two RBIs of his own for The Haven.

Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) smacked a two-RBI triple in the seventh inning for LHU.  He finished 2-for-3 in the game.

Madison Neddo (Earville, Md./Coppin State Univ.) started on the mound for LHU.  He struck out three in 5.0 innings of work and allowed four runs.

The Bald Eagles spotted Bloomsburg three runs in the top of the first inning of game two and the Huskies added five more by the end of the seventh to take an 8-0 lead.

The Haven scored three runs in the top eighth, but couldn't muster a comeback.

Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) led Lock Haven with two hits each in the nightcap.

Hartman went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Botts also went 2-for-4 in the game.

Zuback drove in two runs and was 1-for-3 at the plate.

Freshman Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) got the start on the mound.  He fanned four Huskies in 4.1 innings of work.

The Bald Eagles continue play at the Builder Invitational tomorrow (Saturday, February 23) when they take on host Apprentice School.  First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
