Moyer drops career-high 26 points, but LHU falls to #9 Gannon on senior day

Senior Kacie Hershey netted nine points in the final home game of her career

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) netted a career-high 26 points, but the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (7-18, 4-17 PSAC) fell to No. 9 Gannon University (24-3, 18-2 PSAC), 76-66 this afternoon on senior day at Thomas Fieldhouse.

The Lady Eagles honored their lone senior, Kacie Hershey (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara) before the game.

Hershey showed her range early on.  The senior scored the first basket of the game 54 seconds in, when she drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key.  It was her first career three in her 100th career game.

The Lady Eagles battled hard in the first half and hung right with the nationally ranked Golden Knights.  Gannon led 33-30 at halftime.

Gannon pushed its lead to 10, 47-37 with 13:11 to play and the Golden Knights held their largest lead of the game of 11 points, 56-45 with 10:30 remaining.

The Lady Eagles fought back however, and cut the Gannon lead to just three, 66-63 with 1:17 to play.

LHU's comeback bid came up just short, as Gannon put the game away in the final minute.

Moyer's career-high 26 points came on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 9-of-11 shooting from the free throw line.  She also grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, for her seventh double-double of the season.

Hannah Gildea (Holidaysburg, Pa./Holidaysburg) netted 11 points off the bench for LHU.  She shot 3-of-7 from three-point-land.

Hershey closed out her final game at Thomas Fieldhouse with nine points and grabbed three rebounds.

Jen Papich led Gannon with 19 points.
Lock Haven closes out the season on Wednesday (February 27) when the Lady Eagles travel to Indiana (Pa.).  Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
