Women’s Basketball edged by Mercyhurst, 70-67 in PSAC West clash

Gildea’s career-high 23 points paces three Lady Eagles in double-figures

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – Hannah Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) scored a game and career-high 23 points, pacing three Lady Eagles in double-figures, but it wasn't enough as the Lock Haven University women's basketball team was edged, 70-67 tonight in a PSAC West battle.

Lock Haven (6-14, 3-13 PSAC West) also got double-digit scoring from Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.), who both pulled down double-doubles in the process.

LHU led until there was 7:26 left in the game as Mercyhurst (6-14, 6-10 PSAC West) earned the hard fought come-from-behind road win.

Gildea was 9-for-21 shooting, including 5-of-12 from downtown on the way to her career-high 23 points.

Ryan had 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Moyer had 10 points and 11 boards.

Lock Haven came out running and pushed the paced from the start of the game. The Lady Eagles out-rebounded the Lakers, 35-18 in the first half while outscoring Mercyhurst 15-5 in points-off-turnovers and 20-2 in second-chance points.

Gildea led all scorers in the first half with 15 points. She was 3-for-5 from three-point range.

Ryan had the double-double by half, netting 10 points to go along with 11 rebounds.

The Haven led by as many as 17 points in the first half, but the Lady Eagles couldn't hang on late in the game.

Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) added six point and five rebounds, while J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) added five points, three assists and two steals.

Lock Haven returns to action on Saturday, February 9 at Edinboro University (1 p.m.).
