Box Score SALEM, Va. – The Lock Haven University softball team (9-2) took down No. 13 West Virginia Wesleyan (13-9), 4-2 behind a sensational Lady Eagle pitching effort.
The Lady Eagle and West Virginia Wesleyan game marked a rematch of last year's Atlantic Region Championship.
The Haven's second game of the day with the University of Charleston was washed out because of wet weather in the Salem area. The Lady Eagles finish with a 4-1 mark at the Salem Virginia Tournament.
Lock Haven trailed West Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0 after the top of the first, but LHU quickly responded in the home-half of the first. The Lady Eagles plated four runs and led, 4-1 after one inning.
Pitcher
Brianna Jennings (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing) got the start and improved to 5-0 on the year. She struck out six in 4 1/3 innings.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) threw the last 2 2/3 innings and was equally as tough. She struck out three and allowed just one hit on the way to her first save of the year.
Lock Haven's four runs came off four hits. Four different Lady Eagles recorded hits in the win.
Lock Haven returns to action on Tuesday, March 19 at Pfeiffer (DH) at 3 p.m.

- - This weekend's tournament in Salem, Va., was played at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex. The Moyer Complex is the site of both of Lock Haven's national championships (2006 & 2009).
-Yesterday's loss to West Virginia State snapped an eight-game losing streak. The Yellow Jackets are the only team to beat LHU this season. LHU opened the season vs. W.Va. State.
