Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team picked up a huge PSAC Central sweep of visiting Clarion today.
Lock Haven (26-8, 9-1 PSAC Central) beat Clarion (3-19, 0-10 PSAC Central) 8-6 and 4-0.
Between the two games today, Lock Haven took a moment to honor its eight seniors as the Lady Eagles celebrated Senior Day 2013. Those eight are
Nikki Weaknecht (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown),
Brittany Favazza (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright),
Alyssa Smith (Barrington, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas),
Alicia Cacciotti (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads),
Amanda Fernandez (Cheltenham, Pa./Nazareth Academy),
Kelsey Mullins (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley),
Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover).
Morse was a big part of the story today in the sweep. The senior-pitcher picked up a game-one save and threw a no-hitter in game two to lead the Lady Eagles to victory.
In game one, LHU scored eight runs on nine hits. Three different Lady Eagles had multiple hit games.
Brianna Jennings (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing) improved to 19-2 on the year with the game-one victory. She struck out three.
Morse was sensational in game two, as she threw the no-hitter. She struck out five and walked only one.
The Haven's four game-two runs came off eight hits.
Cacciotti had Lock Haven's big bat in game two. She was 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Lock Haven returns to action on Tuesday, April 23 at 2:30 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host Bloomsburg in an all-important PSAC Central doubleheader.
