Box Score 2 INDIANA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (14-23, 8-10 PSAC West) dropped both games of a doubleheader today to Indiana (Pa.) (23-20, 9-9 PSAC West) in PSAC West action.
IUP edged out Lock Haven in game one, 4-2 and the Crimson Hawks walked off with game two, 8-7.
Lock Haven got off to a quick start and scored one run in each of the first two innings of game one, but IUP would not go away and the game was tied 2-2 after three innings of play. The Crimson Hawks plated one run in the fifth inning and one in the sixth inning to take the game 4-2.
The Bald Eagles two runs came off of eight hits.
Anthony Kyne (Newtown Square, Pa./Penn State Brandywine) went 2-for-3 with a double for LHU.
Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) also tallied two hits for The Haven, as he went 2-for-3.
Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) and
Josh Jones (Neelyton, Pa./Southern-Huntingdon) drove in The Haven's two runs.
Parker Watson (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg Osceola) started on the mound for LHU and allowed four runs in six innings of work. He struck out three and scattered 10 hits.
IUP's Stephen Cooke picked up his eighth win of the season in a complete-game effort.
IUP took game two in walk-off fashion, 8-7.
Indiana (Pa.) jumped out to an early lead, as the Crimson Hawks scored three runs in the first inning.
The Bald Eagles immediately answered however, as The Haven scored four runs on four hits in the top of the second to take a 4-3 lead.
With the game tied at 7-7 in the bottom of the seventh, IUP put runners on the corners with one out and the Crimson Hawks plated the game-winning run when John Beatty laid down an RBI bunt single.
Kyne went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI to lead LHU at the plate.
Jones was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and
Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Casey Hamilton (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central Martinsburg) drove in two runs for LHU.
Brett Quiggle went 4-for-4 with six RBIs for IUP.
Lock Haven and Indiana (Pa.) continue their weekend series tomorrow when LHU hosts IUP on senior day at Foundation Field. Tomorrow's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the Bald Eagles will honor their four seniors in between games.
