Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (14-25, 8-12 PSAC West) dropped both games of a thrilling doubleheader today to Indiana (Pa.) (25-20, 11-9 PSAC West) on senior day at Foundation Field.
IUP edged out Lock Haven in game one, 4-3 and the Crimson Hawks won game two in 10 innings, 6-5.
The Bald Eagles led in game one, 3-1through three innings of play, but IUP scored one run in three of the last four innings to claim the 4-3 win.
Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) led LHU at the plate with two hits, as he went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Joe Nestor (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) started on the mound for LHU and threw well in six innings of work. Nestor struck out four batters and allowed four earned runs.
Kyle Zaorski picked up the win for IUP. He struck out five in the complete game win.
IUP finished off the weekend sweep in game two with a 6-5 win in 10 innings.
The Bald Eagles led 4-0 through six innings of play, but IUP plated five runs in the seventh to take the lead, 5-4.
The Haven kept battling however, and with one out in the bottom of the seventh,
Jeff Ross (Danville, Pa./Danville) smoked a double down the left field line. With Ross on second,
Josh Jones (Neelyton, Pa./Southern-Huntingdon) came to the plate and hit a double of his own that scored Ross and sent the game into extra innings tied at 5-5.
Neither team was able to get back on the scoreboard until the 10th inning, when IUP's Rick Jones singled home the go-ahead run.
Lock Haven put two runners on in the bottom of the 10th, but could not get the tying run home.
Senior
Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) had a game high four hits in game two. Hartman was 4-for-6 with two runs scored.
Botts went 3-for-5 with a double and drove in one RBI.
Henritzy led LHU with two RBIs.
Madison Neddo (Earlville, Md./Coppin State) started on the mound for LHU and allowed just three hits and two runs in 6+ innings of work.
The loss dropped LHU to 8-12 in the PSAC West.
Lock Haven is back in action on Tuesday, April 30 when the Bald Eagles travel to Mansfield for a single, nine inning game. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
