LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team closed out the 2013 regular season today by dropping a pair of extra-inning games with visiting IUP.
Lock Haven (28-12, 11-5 PSAC Central) lost to IUP (24-15, 7-9 PSAC Central) 3-2 (10 innings) in game one and the Lady Eagles dropped game two, 11-8 (8 innings).
Despite four straight losses to close out the season, Lock Haven claims a share of the PSAC Central title with Bloomsburg and Mansfield. All three teams finished with 11-5 marks in PSAC Central play.
Lock Haven will be the top-seed coming out of the Central, thanks to a 3-1 regular-season record against Bloomsburg.
Lock Haven's two game-one runs came off four hits. Leading the way was
Sarah Schwalm (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin), who was 2-for-3 at the plate. She drove in one run.
In game two, LHU scored eight runs on nine hits.
Schwalm was tough at the plate again in game two, going 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored.
Kelsey Mullins (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) was 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored.
The 2013 PSAC Championships are set for next week (Wednesday, May 1 – Saturday, May 4) at Veterans Park in Quakertown, Pa.

- Senior
Sarah Morse was named the PSAC Pitcher of the Week on Monday (April 22).
- The Lady Eagles remained at No. 3 in this week's NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings. The top-eight teams at the end of the year earn bids to the NCAA Tournament.
- On Tuesday (April 22),
Bridgette Clarke doubled in game two vs. Bloomsburg. It marked the 42nd double of her career, breaking the all-time Lady Eagle career record.
- Lock Haven was PSAC Central regular season champions last year (2012). LHU also won it in 2009 (First year PSAC softball was played in three Divisions).
