Softball opens PSAC Central play with split at rival-Bloomsburg

Lock Haven wins game 1, 5-1 & drops game 2, 4-3 – Back in action tomorrow at Clarion (2 p.m.)

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BLOOMSBURG, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University softball team opened PSAC Central play today at rival-Bloomsburg and the Lady Eagles split with the host-Huskies.

Lock Haven (14-5, 1-1 PSAC Central) won game one, 5-1, but Bloom (17-5, 3-1 PSAC Central) took game two, 4-3.

Brianna Jennings (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing) improved to a perfect 9-0 on the year with the game-one win. She struck out four.

Lock Haven's five runs came off six hits, including a pair from Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton), who was 2-for-4 with a RBI and run scored.

LHU jumped on Bloom early, scoring two runs in the top of the first. The Haven added a pair of important insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

The Lady Eagles dropped game two, 4-3.

LHU's three runs came off six hits and with the scored tied 1-1, Bloom put three runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth to take the 4-1 lead. Lock Haven fired right back with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth, but that's all the Lady Eagles could manage.

Bridgette Clare (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) was 2-for-4 with a RBI in the game-two loss.

Lock Haven is right back in action tomorrow (Saturday, April 6) at 2 p.m. when the Lady Eagles take on Clarion on the road.

Game Notes:
- Pitcher Brianna Jennings is now 9-0 on the year with a 0.97 ERA. She has 56 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched.
- Bridgette Clarke still leads LHU at the plate. She's hitting .448 with 12 RBIs and nine doubles.
- Alicia Cacciotti leads LHU with 12 RBIs and three home runs.
