Box Score 2 LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University softball team split a thrilling PSAC crossover-doubleheader today with Slippery Rock in the Lady Eagles 2013 home-opener.
Lock Haven (17-6) edged SRU (10-12) 1-0 in game one, but the Lady Eagles dropped a thrilling, 10-inning affair, 9-8 in game two.
Alicia Cacciotti (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) drove in the only game-one run in the bottom of the third inning.
Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia), the Lady Eagles top hitter on the season was 2-for-3 in game one.
Pitcher
Brianna Jennings (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing) made it 12 straight wins with the game-one victory. She stuck out five and scattered three hits in 5 and 2/3 innings of action.
Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) struck out two on the way to her third save of the year.
The Haven's lone run came off five hits.
In game two, LHU and SRU combined for 17 runs on 19 hits.
Sarah Schwalm (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) combined another strong defensive effort at shortstop with two of Lock Haven's eight game-two hits. She was 2-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Lock Haven returns to action on Tuesday, April 9 at 2:30 p.m. when the Lady Eagles host Mansfield in PSAC Central action.
