Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 QUAKERTOWN, Pa.  – The Lock Haven University softball team dropped a pair of games today on Day 1 of the 2013 PSAC Tournament.

Lock Haven (28-14) opened the day with a, 4-1 loss to West Chester (33-17) and the Lady Eagles were eliminated from the tournament with a, 7-3 loss this afternoon to Gannon (23-12).

Lock Haven fell to West Chester, 4-1 earlier this morning in the opening game of the PSAC tournament for both teams. The Golden Rams scored four runs on eight hits, while LHU posted its lone run off four hits.

Nicole Smith (Milton, Pa./Milton) was 2-for-3 with one run scored and Chelsea Edwards (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was credited with Lock Haven's only RBI.

West Chester took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but LHU tied it in the bottom of fourth when Edwards drove in Smith on a ground out to the WCU shortstop.

The Golden Rams went on to score two runs in the fifth and they added an insurance run in the sixth on the way to the win.

Pitcher Brianna Jennings (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing) took the loss after 4 and 1/3 innings of work. She struck out two and gave up seven hits. Sarah Morse (Dover, N.H./Dover) struck out four in the final 2 and 2/3 innings of action.

Lock Haven dropped its second game of the day to Gannon, 7-3 despite out-hitting the Golden Knights.

LHU scored is three runs on six hits, while Gannon tacked on seven runs on just three hits.

Once again, both Jennings and Morse pitched for LHU and despite scattering just three hits and striking out seven, the two couldn't help Lock Haven get the win. Jennings struck out two, while Morse struck out five.

Each team exchanged a pair of runs in the first, but a five-run top of the fifth for Gannon, doomed LHU.

Bridgette Clarke (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Alicia Cacciotti (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) accounted for both Haven runs in the first after a two-run home run.

With two losses today, Lock Haven is eliminated from the 2013 PSAC Tournament. The Lady Eagles will now await the NCAA Division II Softball Selection Show (Monday, May 6 at 10:30 a.m.) to see if they are selected to the NCAA Tournament.
