Bald Eagles drop doubleheader at Clarion to close out 2013 season

Haven falls in game one, 4-2 and drops game two, 6-3

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CLARION, Pa. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (16-28, 9-15 PSAC West) dropped both games of a doubleheader today on the road against Clarion (4-40, 4-20 PSAC West) to close out the 2013 season.

Clarion took game one, 4-2 and the Golden Eagles took the nightcap, 6-3.

The Bald Eagles led 2-1 through five innings in game one, but Clarion used a three-run sixth to pick up the 4-2 win.

Austin Botts (Seven Valleys, Pa./Wingate Univ.) went 2-for-2 with a double and drove in both of LHU's runs.

Ryan Henritzy (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) also collected two hits for The Haven, as he went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored.

Senior Nick Cummings (Akron, N.Y./Akron) started on the mound for LHU and pitched all six innings.  Cummings struck out three and scattered 10 hits.

In game two, Lock Haven led 3-0 through 3.5 innings, but Clarion put together a four-run fourth inning to take the lead that they never relinquished.

The Bald Eagles had 11 hits in the game.

Henritzy, Jay Hartman (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and Scott Zuback (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) all went 2-for-4 for LHU.

Garrett Shnyder (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery) started was LHU's game two starter.  Shnyder allowed five runs on 10 hits and struck out five Golden Eagles.

Today's games wrapped up the 2013 season for Lock Haven.

- LHU finished the season 16-28 overall, 9-15 in the PSAC West.
- Senior Jay Hartman led LHU with a .367 batting average this season.
- Austin Botts led The Haven with six home runs and hit .328 on the year.
