Box Score HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Lock Haven University field hockey team scored 1:59 into overtime and the Lady Eagles beat Colgate 3-2 (OT) on the road today in non-conference action.
Lock Haven (4-2) got a pair of sensational individual efforts from
Taylor Kennedy (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) and
Nakira Downes (Bridgetown, Barbados/The Combermere School) who combined for all the scoring in the win over Colgate (0-5).
Kennedy scored twice in regulation, both times off assists from Downes and in overtime Kennedy returned the favor, setting up Downes for the game-winner.
Trailing 1-0, Kennedy tied the match in the 22nd minute off a pass from Downes and sent things into halftime knotted at 1-1.
Colgate led again until Kennedy scored again in the 54th off another pass from Downes.
Just 1:59 into overtime Kennedy sent Downes streaking toward goal on a breakaway, where she finished for the LHU win.
Goalie
Elaina White (Etters, Pa./Red Land) made eight saves in the win.
LHU is right back at it tomorrow (Sunday, September 15) at Siena (noon).
