Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Lock Haven University field hockey rallied late to the tie match in regulation and a
Kiersten Cepeda (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) goal with 26 seconds left in overtime helped the Lady Eagles slip past Cornell, 3-2 on the road.
LHU (2-1) tied the match with just 20 seconds left in regulation and Cepeda netted her second game-winner of the season late in the overtime period. It marked the second straight time Lock Haven need overtime to beat Cornell (0-1), who was playing in its season-opener.
After a scoreless first half Cornell broke open the scoring in the 41st minute. The Big Red made it 2-0 less than five minutes later.
Colleen McCabe (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./William Tennent) put LHU on the board in the 59th minute off a pass from
Megan Wenrich (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin). The goal marked the first career point for both McCabe and Wenrich.
With just 20 seconds left in the game
Steph Ebersole (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) tied the game on her first goal of the season.
In the final minute of the overtime period, Wenrich was at it again and set up Cepeda.
Cepeda took Wenrich's pass and fired the ball far post, beating the Cornell goalie and giving LHU the win in its first road-game of the season.

Elaina White (Etters, Pa./Red Land) was strong again and finished with nine saves.
LHU returns home on Sunday, September 8 at noon when the Lady Eagles host Georgetown on Charlotte Smith Field.
