Volleyball continues to dominate at the Ram Rumble Tournament

Lock Haven defeats Bowie State 3-0 and Barry 3-1 to close out the Ram Rumble Tournament.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Lock Haven University volleyball team closed out the weekend with a pair of big wins at the Hampton Inn Ram Rumble Tournament, hosted by Shepherd University.

Lock Haven (4-0) opened the day with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-11 & 25-7) win over Bowie State and the Lady Eagles followed it up with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-11, 25-17 & 25-22) victory over Barry.

The win over Bowie State resulted from an all-around effort by Lock Haven. 

Sarah Warnagiris (Hunlock Creek, Pa./Holy Redeemer) led the way for LHU with ten kills and hit .438.  Laura Harris (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) added to the attack with nine kills in the win against Bowie State.

Kendra Fetzer (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) led the offense with 24 assists and nine digs, while Sydney Belcastro (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hopewell) added seven.

Against Barry, Megan Flick (Howard, Pa./Bald Eagle Area) logged 13 kills, while Cody Anderson (Johnsonburg, Pa./Johnsonburg) dished out13 kills and hit .310.  Anderson recorded eight digs.

Jessica Brown (Fawn-Grove, Pa./Kennard-Dale) dished out 33 assists in the win.

Both Brown and Anderson were named to the All-Tournament team.

LHU is back in action on the road next weekend (Friday & Saturday, September 13-14) at the Ashland Tournament with matches against Ashland, Wheeling Jesuit, Cedarville, and Tusculum.

Match Notes:
- Lock Haven beat Pace and Shepherd yesterday on day one of the Ram Rumble.
- Cody Anderson recorded 25 kills and hit .375, adding a pair of blocks in the win against Pace.
- Brown dished out 49 assists against Pace and 33 assists against Shepherd.
- Last year, LHU went 26-11 overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in school history.
- LHU was 16-3 in PSAC play and advanced to the PSAC Tournament championship match. Lock Haven won the PSAC East regular season title for the fifth straight time.
- Despite four-of-8 first-place votes, LHU was picked second in the PSAC Preseason Coaches' Poll behind Shippensburg. LHU beat Ship twice last year.
- Senior Bailey Farthing was an All-Region and All-Conference selection last year.
- LHU has two seniors, two sophomores, eight juniors and four freshmen on the roster in 2013.
