Hepburn and Walker lead Men’s Hoops to win over Mansfield, 85-78

Hepburn scores game-high 25 points; Walker tallies first career double-double

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (9-6, 2-3 PSAC East) picked up a huge conference win over Mansfield (3-13, 1-5 PSAC East) tonight, 85-78 at Thomas Fieldhouse.

Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) led LHU with 25 and 20 points, respectively in the win.

The two teams were neck-and-neck for most of the period, but the Bald Eagles kicked it in gear as halftime drew near.

With the game tied at, 32-32, LHU mounted a, 14-4 run in the final 4:19 of the period and took a, 46-36 lead into the break.

Walker and Hepburn paced the Lock Haven attack in the first half, combining for over half of LHU's points in the period.

Walker scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in the first.  Hepburn added 11 points and five rebounds.

The Bald Eagles 10-point halftime lead was all The Haven needed, as they never trailed in the second half, sealing the win at the free throw line down the stretch.

Hepburn finished with a game-high 25 points and added seven rebounds and six assists.  Hepburn made 13-of-15 free throws in the game.

Walker tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds in the game, both career-highs on his way to his first career double-double.  The freshman guard added four assists and two steals for The Haven.

Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) also tallied a double-double for LHU.  Festus scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Al Blount (Northampton, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) netted a season-best 13-points, including a perfect 3-for-3 on three-pointers.

Joe Bell and Charles Becoats led Mansfield with 21 points each.
Lock Haven returns to action Saturday (January 15) when the Bald Eagles host Kutztown in a PSAC East matchup at Thomas Fieldhouse.  Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.

Lock Haven entered tonight with eight wins, already marking their most wins since the 2002-03 season…Wali Hepburn entered tonight ranked third in the PSAC, averaging 21.4 points per game…Hepburn has averaged 25.8 points per game over the last four games and is averaging 6.1 rebounds per game…Hepburn was named the PSAC East Men's Athlete last week (Jan. 6)…It was the first time a Bald Eagle won the award this season.
