Women’s Basketball downs Mansfield in conference action, 56-43

Moyer records double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) recorded a double-double as the Lock Haven University women's basketball team (3-12) defeated Mansfield (0-16) tonight, 56-43.  
 
Moyer netted a team-high 17 points and 11 rebounds to anchor the Haven attack. 
 
LHU fell behind early in the first half until Shaleta Heyward (Upper Darby, Pa./Mansfield Univ.) netted a jumper to give LHU its first, lead of the night, 16-14.
 
The Lady Eagles played a remarkable first half shooting 44.8% from the field and 62.5% from the free throw line. 
 
LHU played exceptional defense to maintain an, 32-25 advantage at the break.
 
LHU never gave up momentum in the second half and continued to stretch the lead to as many as 15 points in the period. 
 
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley) netted 10 points and grabbed three rebounds in thirty minutes of action.  Daugherty added two steals.
 
Sophomore J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) had an all-around performance with eight points and three rebounds.  Hilliard dished-out a team-high three assists and added a steal in just 22 minutes.
 
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) played solid defense, gripping six rebounds and adding seven points.
 
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Loyalsock) added eight points and two steals.
 
Hannah Gildea (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) grabbed five rebounds off the bench and dished-out two assists.
 
Jena Matter led Mansfield with a game-high 18 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Lock Haven returns to action on Saturday, January 18 against Kutztown (1 p.m.).

Tonight's win marked the first PSAC East win for the Lady Eagles … Marrysa Moyer leads LHU with 17.1 points per game … Sami Lane leads LHU in assists with 47 on the year … The Lady Eagles are 3-4 at Thomas Fieldhouse …  LHU is 35-10 in all-time series against Mansfield … Tonight's game marked the second of 13 straight conference games for the Lady Eagles.
