Men’s Hoops wins fourth straight behind balanced attack, downing Cheyney on the road, 75-67

Four Bald Eagles score in double-figures to lead Haven to crucial road win

Box Score CHEYNEY, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men's basketball team (12-6, 5-3 PSAC East) won its fourth straight game today, as the Bald Eagles downed Cheyney (2-16, 2-6 PSAC East), 75-67 on the road.

The win, coupled with a West Chester loss today puts the Bald Eagles in a tie with West Chester for third place in the PSAC East.

The Bald Eagles played an efficient opening period.  After trailing, 8-0 to start the game, the Bald Eagles turned it on.  The Haven shot 52.4% (11-of-21) from the field and seven different Bald Eagles scored, led by Wali Hepburn (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti), who netted 11 points.

The Bald Eagles balanced attack led them to a, 37-30 lead at the half.

Lock Haven held its lead throughout the second half.  LHU never trailed in the final 20 minutes and the Bald Eagles led by as many as 15 in the second half on their way to the win.

The Bald Eagles finished with four players in double-figure scoring, led by Hepburn's 18 points.

Hepburn has now passed Cheyney's Deshawn Curtis for the PSAC lead in scoring at 21.8 points per game.

Bootsie Walker (Chester, Pa./Chester) had another outstanding game for LHU.  The freshman tallied his second career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds in the game.

Senior forward Kasheef Festus (Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) controlled the paint for LHU and scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Theo West (Philadelphia/Kensington) and Elijah Cooper (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) played great off the bench for LHU.

West scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.  It was West's second career double-digit scoring effort this season.

Cooper sparked LHU down the stretch in the second half and finished with five points.

Michael Drinks led Cheyney with 16 points.

Lock Haven returns to action Wednesday (January 29) when the Bald Eagles host Shippensburg at Thomas Fieldhouse.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.

The Bald Eagles entered today's game on a three game winning streak, with all three wins coming against PSAC East opponents…On Monday, the Bald Eagles swept the weekly PSAC East awards. For the second time in three weeks, junior Wali Hepburn was named the PSAC East Player of the Week and for the first time in his career, rookie Bootsie Walker was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Week…Hepburn entered today averaging 22.0 points per game, the second-most in the league.
