Box Score CHEYNEY, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women's basketball team (4-14, 2-6 PSAC East) fell on the road today to Cheyney (3-14, 3-5 PSAC East), 80-72 in conference matchup.
Marrysa Moyer (Altoona, Pa./Mansfield Univ.),
Emily Daugherty (Laughlintown, Pa./Ligonier Valley), and
Sami Lane (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) led the Lady Eagles tonight in double figures but it was not enough as the Wolves earned the win.
LHU played tight with Cheyney throughout the first period and LHU trailed by just one, 36-35 at the halftime break.
The Lady Eagles battled early in the second half to earn an, 43-49 lead with less than 13 minutes remaining.
The Wolves rallied late in the period and took control of the game. LHU trailed by 16 points as the Wolves proved to be too strong down the stretch.
Moyer led LHU with 21 points and six rebounds. Moyer shot 80% from the free throw line, netting eight free throws.
Daugherty recorded a solid performance, netting 16 points and grabbing three rebounds. Daugherty dished out two assists in 30 minutes of action.
Sami Lane has continued to consistent for LHU adding 12 points.
Senior-forward
Kelsey Ryan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) and sophomore-guard
J.J. Hilliard (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) netted seven and eight points, respectively.
Lysa Mealing (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) grabbed five rebounds.
The Lady Eagles shot 72.0% from the free throw line and netted 16 points in the paint.
Lia Whitley-Duncan led Cheyney with a game-high 27 points.
Lock Haven returns to action Wednesday (January 29) against Shippensburg in PSAC East action at Thomas Fieldhouse (6 p.m.).
